Discipline in Room 32

kids.jpeg
Room 32 practices the Love & Logic principles. The Love and Logic process includes sharing control and decision-making, using empathy with consequences, and enhancing the self-concept of children. The classroom expectations we practice are:

1. Feel free to do anything that won't cause a problem for anyone else.
2. I teach when there are no distractions or other problems.
3. I listen to students who raise their hand.
4. I listen to one person at a time.
5. Please treat me with the same respect that I treat you.
6. If someone causes a problem, I will ask them to solve it.
7. If they can't or won't fix it, I will do something.
8. What I will do will depend on the unique situation.

Students are paid 'funny money' for completing homework, working quietly, keeping their name off the board, doing extra credit, and various other things. This money can then be used at the class store on Fridays. Students can buy school supplies, snacks, toys, and numerous trinkets! Some students keep their money in their wallets, while others deposit theirs in the bank. This is a real life skill that teaches the importance of saving, planning, and spending carefully.
